Erasmus+ Academic Mobility: Student Learning Experience at the University of Forestry in Sofia (Bulgaria)
The development of international cooperation and participation in academic mobility programmes is one of the priority areas of activity of the Scientific and Educational Institute of Social Sciences, Administration and Law of the Ukrainian National Forestry University.
Andrii Martynov, a Bachelor’s degree student in “Tourism and Recreation,” successfully completed his studies under the Erasmus+ programme at the University of Forestry in Sofia, Bulgaria, during the autumn semester from September 15 to December 23, 2025.

The educational process at the University of Forestry in Sofia has a high level of engagement and a strong practice-oriented approach. Lectures were effectively combined with field trips and excursions to prominent landmarks in Sofia. Emphasis was placed on group work, which helped to quickly overcome the language barrier and master professional terminology.
The curriculum at the host higher education institution was distinguished by its practical orientation and interdisciplinary nature. The studies were conducted in the following areas:
Specialized english language: An intensive English language course that significantly improved professional terminology and enhanced communication skills. The teaching methodology was based on an individualised approach and active interaction.
Rural tourism: The study of this discipline combined theoretical analysis with an in-depth exploration of Bulgaria’s cultural and historical heritage. A key component was a series of organised field visits, during which students explored Sofia’s architectural landmarks, including churches, mosques, and the Opera House.
Fishing Tourism: This specialised course offered a unique opportunity to broaden professional knowledge. It focused on the study of aquatic biological resources and the recreational potential of water bodies, using visual aids and modern teaching materials.

The outcomes of the mobility primarily included overcoming the language barrier and improving teamwork skills. The successful integration of theoretical knowledge with the study of Bulgarian experience in the field of recreation represents a significant contribution to the professional profile of a future specialist. Participation in the Erasmus+ programme is not only about education but also about the development of soft skills.
Accommodation in the well-known Student’s Town in Sofia facilitated rapid adaptation and the establishment of intercultural connections.
The administration of the Scientific and Educational Institute of Social Sciences congratulates our student on the successful completion of the mobility programme and encourages other students to actively participate in international programmes that open up new horizons for professional and personal development.
Study, travel, and grow together with the Ukrainian National Forestry University!
